Josiah's first week

Caleb has had great fun getting to know his new baby brother. He gets really excited whenever he comes through to the hospital and gives little Josiah hugs and cuddles and kisses.

These first few days the new little guy has slept loads and loads. He definately likes being rugged up and cuddled. Every so often we're treated to Josiah opening up his eyes and looking up at us with his dark little eyes.

Josiah is a great little time-waster. You can spend hours just staring at him as he wriggles and restson your lap. Some of the little man's facial expressions are classic.

Yesterday we gave Jos his first bath. Caleb didn't enjoy his first bath at all so we were a bit nervous...but he loved it. not a squeak out of him during the bath time; only a bit of a cry when we pulled him out and towelled him off. I think we have a water baby on our hands!

Caleb's 4th birthday

"Mum.....Dad....is it my birthday today?" Caleb had snuck into our bed a few minutes earlier and was waiting for the chance to ask us. "Yes it is...." "WOOHOO!" Straight from there Caleb ran down the hallway to Grandma's room were we brought in his pressies and he started ripping them open one by one.
Caleb had a big pile of pressies to get through and the smile on his face was permanently beaming.

His big present from Grandma was a cricket set and Caleb was keen to give it a test run at the park as soon as he could. So, after a quick breakfast we headed down to Glebe Park.

The picture of concentration as Caleb did his best to blast the ball out of the park. There were a couple of freshies as he swung and missed but he soon got his eye in and hit the ball all over.

He still needs to work on keeping his eye on the ball....

Just as determined with the ball in hand, Caleb enjoyed bowling at full pace to try get grandma, mum and dad out.

To round off his love for the game, Caleb did a great Boucher impersonation and played wicket keeper. All he needs to do is learn some sledging now!

Some of the Baumgartner cricket team.

Caleb's big pressie from us was a scooter and during the drinks break in the cricket, he zoomed around the park on his new wheels.

Later in the afternoon, Caleb had his cousins, Uncle Simon, Pat, V and Levi over for some birthday cake and some fun around the house. A full day of birthday fun!

Brumbies vs Sharks

On Saturday 13 March I took Caleb to his first ever rugby game. Thankfully we didn't go the week earlier as it bucketed with rain and the Lions got a bit of a hammering, but we went expecting the 'sharkies' to put up a good fight.
So dressed in our finest Springbok gear we went to Canberra Stadium to cheer on the 'Saffers'!

Caleb couldn't understand why the teams practised for so long before the game but he was kept occupied before kick-off when Brumbie Jack came over and gave all the kids a hug and high five.

The game was pretty tight the whole way with the Brumbies in the end winning 24 - 22. The highlight though was Ruan Pienaar scoring a try in the corner where we were sitting.

Ruan on his way to score the Sharks only try.

The big boys! Jannie du Plassis, The BEAST, Ruan and Bismark.

Stephan Terblance giving Caleb the thumbs up when he shouted, "GO SHARKS!"

Tell the ref how you REALLY feel John!

The boot that won it for the Brumbies. Just shows that practise does make perfect.
Ruan feeding the scrum with Mortlock looking on.

Caleb really enjoyed it and we weren't even out the car park on the way home after the game before he was fast asleep.

Australia Day 2010

What a way to spend Australia Day! A group of us from the church on Monday 25th January cycled up Australia's highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko, pitched our tents on the summit and watched the Australia Day sunrise from the top of the continent! What a great experience!

Well, when I said 'cycled' that might have been a bit of an exaggeration. Most of us managed at cycle the first 4 kms to the famous Snowy River. As the road steepened though the only option for the unfit ones (me included) was to push the bike up the rest of the way.

After 2 hours of puffing and panting we reached the top. We were greeted by an awesome view and an incredible sunset and we quickly got camp set up before the light faded.

Dinner was a selection of whatever rations we had shoved into our back-packs and it wasn't long before we retired to the tents and swags.

We were up as the light began to break through the black in the east and we walked the few meters to the summit to watch the sunrise over Australia.

Once camp was packed up the fun started as we cycled the 9km's downhill back to the cars. A great experience!

Bateman's Bay day trip

Whilst the weather was still warm we packed our gear up and headed down to Bateman's Bay for a day at the beach!

We bought Caleb his first boogie board earlier that week and he was keen to give it a try! We arrived down at Longbeach at 9am and whilst Caleb abd I set up our 'camp', Bex went to fetch Nanna from Moruya. The sea was flat and Caleb had a ball catching the small waves on his board. Then all of a sudden the wind picked up and it blew a gale so when the ladies arrived we piled into the car and got an early lunch at Bateman's.

After Lunch we gave Casey's Beach a try and found our own little cove that was sheltered from the wind. The water was a bit rough but we had loads of fun.

The sand fight was the highlight with Arlene, Caleb and myself getting bombed from all directions! I think we finally tired Caleb out after a few hours. He sat down in the shade, had a snack and slept all the way home.
