Mini Hockey

Caleb went to his first ever hockey practise and match on Saturday May 1. He'd been looking forward to the day for over a month and was a bundle of excitement in the car on the way down to the playing fields.
When he got his hockey shirt and saw all the kids around he got a little bit nervous but with Grandma, Uncle Simon and dad cheering him on, he went through the practise drills and then played his first game. Caleb's in the 'Magpies' team and is one of the youngest and one of only two boys so it took a while for him to find his feet.
He wasn't too keen on getting stuck into the swarm of kids that follow the ball around hacking at anything that moves but he got a few good hit (some towards the wrong goals) and as the game went on enjoyed it more and more.

Like father (and uncle) like son... watching the ball waiting for the pass...

Getting a little distracted by what's happening on the next field.

Waiting in line for his turn to try get around the defender almost twice his age!

Sizing up the defender and looking to get around her for a shot at goal...

Rewards for a great first day of hockey! "Dad, is it Saturday tomorrow again?....awww, so when can I play hockey again?!"
